This lovely period house in Old Hatfield has an interesting literary connection as it is next to the pub that Bill Sykes fled to after killing his girlfriend in the Dickens classic Oliver Twist. I guess the man himself must have been a regular as the pub was on the old London Road, the main coaching route heading north from the capital.
